Get a Social Security number or card if you live outside the U.S.
To get a Social Security number or card if you do not have a U.S. mailing address, select the country where you live and contact its Federal Benefits Unit. If the country you are in is not listed, contact your nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
Get a Social Security number and card for a new baby
The easiest time to apply for a Social Security number for your baby is at the hospital after they are born. Request one when you give the information for your child's birth certificate.
